comments on different tools

Diigo:

Instructions on its web page:

Collect and highlight, then remember

My conclusion:

Web 2.0

A good tool for viewing the web pages and record something to which you pay attention. It will help you to build your own database of web page and of course you can share them with your friends. It can be used in almost all browsers and many different users such as one who has ipad or use the system of Android.

Main functions:

Making notes on the web pages

Follow and followers-comment, groups, community

Account can be linked by many famous sites.

Edtags:

Instructions on its web page:

Edtags.org is a website for educators (e.g., teachers, education graduate students, professors, librarians, etc.) to connect with people sharing similar interests, discover relevant materials that may have "eluded" the traditional card catalogue search, and store and categorize your favorite bookmarks.

We encourage you to upload, store, categorize and share your own course papers, pre-print materials, pictures and the like. When you label a bookmark "private" only you can see it; however, sharing is what this site is all about!

After you register, you can import bookmarks from your browser's "favorites" or your del.icio.us bookmark list. In addition, you can export your bookmarks from our site to XML, HTML, your browser or del.icio.us. In other words, you can always backup your data!!!

» We highly recommend adding our bookmarklet to your browser. This will help you save bookmarks "on the fly."

1. Browse the weighted graph — this is Seth's hyper-primitive, web 1.0 browser.

2. Visualize the weighted graph — this is the TouchGraph visualization

3. Test the user recommendation system

4. Try out the evolving proto-search (the first version is here)

5. Howsabout finding some synonyms (as Edtags understands the term…)

6. Play fun games with ClusterService::getTagHash() (or, at least, test it)

See how search breaks a query down into individual terms

My conclusions:

It looks like diigo but I don’t have the chance to use it because “Registration is temporarily restricted.”=.=

Main functions:

Information collecting, saving and exhibition: tagging, labeling, sharing, etc.

Delicious

Introduction on its web page

The freshest bookmarks that are flying like hotcakes on Delicious and beyond.

Delicious allows you to:

access your bookmarks from any browser, anywhere

discover great handpicked websites with less spam than other search sites

share what you love, hide what's private

My conclusions:

It seems that the tags will only be saved by URL. That means we can only save the whole page but not the exact content which we need. No communication for the users.

Main functions:

Showing your tags

Account can be linked by yahoo.

Google Docs

My conclusions:

It’s a good tool to share the resources of different people. But it depends on the spirit of sharing and when Google has the problem in somewhere, you will be in some kind of trouble. No communication.

Main functions:

Creating, uploading different kinds of documents in your computers and making them become the net library of yourself or open them to others.

Slideshare

Introduction on its web page:

SlideShare is the best way to share presentations, documents and professional videos.

Supported Formats

My conclusions

Good for the visual documents. No communication.

Main functions

Account can be linked to facebook.

Whiteboard

I don’t know why it is loading all the time.
